The short version: this site runs no analytics, loads nothing from other companies, and sets no cookies. We learn about you only when you write to us, through a contact form, the assistant, or email. If you came to the site by clicking one of our Google ads, your browser remembers that click, and we learn which ad it was only if you write to us.
This Privacy Policy describes how Choate Catalysts (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit our website at choatecatalysts.com (the “Site”) or otherwise interact with us. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you use the Site.
Information You Provide
You may provide information when you:
- Submit one of our contact forms or otherwise email us (your name, work email, organization, website, and the contents of your message);
- Send a message to the assistant on the Site (the contents of your messages);
- Engage with us as a client or prospective client (information you share in connection with that engagement);
- Otherwise communicate with us via email or other channels.
Information Collected Automatically
We don’t add analytics to the Site. Like any website, it is served by a hosting provider, Cloudflare, which processes standard technical information to deliver pages and protect the Site from abuse:
- Your IP address and the address of the page you requested;
- Your browser and device type, as your browser reports them.
Cloudflare keeps aggregate traffic statistics, such as request counts, as part of its service. We don’t use this information to build profiles of visitors or to follow you across other websites.
If you reach the Site by clicking one of our Google ads, the link carries a click ID from Google and our campaign tags, such as the campaign name and the keyword. The Site keeps them, with the address of the page you arrived on, in your browser’s local storage for up to 90 days, and includes them with an inquiry if you send one in that time. Nothing is sent if you don’t write to us. Campaign tags on other links, such as a newsletter or a social media post, are not kept.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and engagement requests;
- Learn which of our ads lead to inquiries, so we can spend on the ones that work;
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements;
- Protect against fraudulent, unauthorized, or illegal activity.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We share information with third parties that perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, email delivery, customer relationship management, and advertising measurement. These providers are required to handle information consistent with this Privacy Policy.
- Advertising measurement. If your inquiry came from one of our Google ads, we may tell Google Ads that the click led to an inquiry, using the click ID that came with it. We do not give Google Ads your name, email address, or message.
- Legal compliance. We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the rights of others, or the safety of any person.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of business assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your consent. We may share information with your consent or at your direction.
Cookies and Tracking
The Site sets no cookies. It uses no analytics or social media trackers, and it loads no scripts, fonts, or images from other companies.
The Site’s own code keeps a little information in your browser:
- The assistant keeps your conversation and a random session ID in session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab. The ID is sent with your messages so the assistant can follow the conversation.
- The animated background keeps the positions of its particles in session storage, so it carries over from one page to the next.
- If you arrived by clicking one of our Google ads, the ad’s click ID, our campaign tags, and the page you landed on are kept in local storage for up to 90 days, and sent only with an inquiry you choose to send. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.
The top of this page counts the network requests the page makes, in your browser, and shows the result. That count is never sent anywhere.
Third-Party Services
The Site uses third-party services that may process information about you, including:
- Google Workspace for business email and document storage.
- Cloudflare, which serves the Site and processes form submissions at the edge.
- Brevo, which delivers our email and stores contact records. Information you submit through our forms and the assistant is sent to Brevo, along with any ad click ID and campaign tags that came with it.
- Google Cloud Run, which hosts the assistant service.
- Google Gemini, which powers the assistant. The messages you send to the assistant are processed by Gemini. We use Google’s enterprise tier, which under Google Cloud’s terms does not use customer data to train Google’s models.
- Google Ads, where we run our advertising. Google Ads receives the click ID of an ad that led to an inquiry, from us, so we can measure which ads work. It receives nothing from your browser on this Site.
Each of these services operates under its own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review.
Data Retention
We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the services described in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Inquiry and engagement records are retained as part of our standard business records.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information.
General Rights
You may:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate information;
- Request deletion of your information.
California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you specific rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The lawful bases on which we rely include our legitimate interests (for operating the Site and improving our services) and the performance of any contract we have with you. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Site, you consent to such transfers.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the Site.
